Boo
Al Grumet, 2013, UV-cured ink on aluminum, 32″ x 48″
Images from the Tenderloin neighborhood in San Francisco and a scrap-bin sculpture are transformed into a narrative about two homeless women. The work explores the stigma associated with homelessness. One woman dances for the camera and then apologizes for being homeless. A second woman, who wears a hat bearing the red letter “A,” retreats from view with a look of suspicion and distrust. This post completes the work and builds upon the storyline.
